## Verified state

- local Docker Compose deployment works on the Rocky Linux workstation
- FastAPI health endpoint reports healthy
- public URL inspection works with yt-dlp without downloading media
- live inspection verified with YouTube and BBC sources
- single-video wrappers are accepted; playlists remain rejected
- equivalent CDN formats and non-media storyboards are filtered
- dark responsive interface and two-view transition are implemented
- UI previews Best Available and Compatible MP4 outcomes
- automated suite last verified with 12 passing tests

## Important limitation

The displayed output choices are frontend previews. Download selectors, job
storage, a worker, progress reporting, and artifact delivery do not exist yet.
The application must remain local and must not be exposed to the Internet.

## Next task

Manually inspect representative public sources from YouTube, BBC, X/Twitter,
Instagram, TikTok, and other commonly used news sites. Record successes,
errors, metadata gaps, and highest detected quality without committing
sensitive newsroom URLs or screenshots.

After reviewing those results, move output-preset selection into the backend
and test authoritative Best Available and Compatible MP4 selectors before
implementing download jobs.
